Tokyo Olympics 2021:Deepika will pair with Praveen Jadhav and not husband Atanu Das, decision after the performance of the ranking round of archery

The Tokyo Olympics have started amidst the Corona epidemic. Ranking round was held in Archery on Friday. Medal hopeful Indian archer Deepika Kumari finished ninth in women’s singles with 663 points. Among the male archers, Praveen Jadhav was 31st with 656 points, Atanu Das was 35th with 653 points and Tarundeep Roy was 37th with 652 points.

The Archery Association of India has decided to pair Praveen with Deepika in the mixed event. Earlier it was expected that Dipika will enter the mixed event of husband Atanu Das. But, Praveen did better in the ranking round. So it was decided to make a pair of Deepika-Praveen. Dipika and Praveen together got 1319 marks. In this way their pair got 9th rank in mixed event.

Dipika’s performance below expectations
Deepika Kumari’s performance in the women’s singles ranking round was not up to the mark. She finished ninth with 663 points. South Korea’s archers were on the first three positions in the ranking round. Korea’s Aan San came first with 680 points, Jang Minhye (677) second and Kang Zhi (675) third.

South Korea’s Aan San has set a new Olympic record. He earned 680 points in the ranking round, which is 7 points more than the Olympic record.

Deepika had reached the pre-quarterfinals in the Rio Olympics,
Deepika won three gold medals in the World Cup held in Paris a few weeks before the Olympics. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she was successful in reaching the pre-quarterfinals. Deepika will take on the 54th placed Bhutanese archer Karma in the pre-quarterfinals.

India has won the most medals in the London Olympics,
so far in the history of the Olympics, India has won 9 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze medals. The maximum number of 6 medals came in the 2012 London Olympics. The players would like to increase the number of medals this time even better than London. The entry of fans in the stadium is banned due to Corona.

30 Indian athletes will participate in the Opening Ceremony In
view of the threat of Corona, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has allowed only 30 Indian athletes to participate in the Opening Ceremony. Apart from this, 6 officers have been asked to attend. Also, the players whose event is on the first day of the Olympics have been asked not to take part.

124 athletes are participating from India
This time 124 athletes from India are participating in the Olympics. Of this, 69 will be male and 55 female athletes and the rest will be staff members. Indian athletes will present their claim for 85 medals this time. India has appointed men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh and six-time boxing world champion MC Mary Kom as flag bearers for the opening ceremony.

Events of 4 shooters On the first day of the Olympics, the events of
10m air pistol shooters Saurabh Chaudhary, Abhishek Verma, Apurvi Chandela and Elavenil Valarivan are from India. While the events of shooter Manu Bhaker, Yashaswini Singh Deswal, Deepak Kumar and Divyansh Singh Panwar are on the second day.

The Indian shooting team consists of 8 rifle, 5 pistol and 2 skeet shooters, 6 coaches and 1 physio. Apart from shooting, boxing, archery, men’s and women’s hockey teams have to play matches on the next day of the opening ceremony.
